Donde esta mi nombre in relaccion con tu corazon?
(Where is my name located within your heart?)

My Cherie Amour
Stevie Wonder

La la la la la la
La la la la la la

My Cherie Amour, lovely as a summer's day
My Cherie Amour, distant as the Milky Way
My Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You're the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine

In a cafe or sometimes on a crowded street
I've been near you, but you never notice me
My Cherie Amour, won't you tell me how could you ignore
That behind that little smile I wore
How I wish that you were mine

Maybe someday you'll see my face among the crowd
Maybe someday I'll share your little distant cloud
Oh, Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You're the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine

La la la la la la

My Cherie Amour

During my entire decade studying and working in far away Quezon City, we were sometimes "adopted" by various classmates and groupmates living with their families. We are forever grateful to our "foster mothers, parents and families" for providing for us accomodations (which sometimes extend to days, or weeks even), and even advice.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

Finished!!!

Ah the sem is finally finished!!! After our pre and post presentation experiences, we finally got what we deserved! It's nice to re-live the thesis experience, from conceptualization to post production. It's like we were all in undergrad school again!

It's my first time (I think) to present in straight English for almost 2-hours. We would laugh at each other when we catch each other speaking in Tagalog, even for small words like "ano", "kasi" or even "ser". It's fun just the same.

I also had a chance to work with a large group, where we designated ourselves as though we were a planning group. We had a geographer, a demographic analyst, a transport analyst, a landscape architect, architects and production specialists. It's also interesting to verify or dispute certain traits and characteristics attached to people who come from other universities with regards to work ethics and way of thinking.

The fun part is spending overnight work again with the group, the problem being we don't have the physical capacity to do overnight work as before during undergrad school. "The sun is rising!!! AAAAH type faster!!!"

So onwards to the next sem, let's see how much and how far we can still go.

Conspiracy

We had a site inspection at this poetry-music hangout, where most of the patrons are either green writers or hard core no nonsense prose makers. We are slated to perform at the said bar sometime next month, and I am so excited! It is our first time to perform a two-hour set, with nothing but us on-stage! jitters galore, but at least we now have an idea of what to expect.

We just have to take care of some "bad habits" within the band, in order to straighten out the set and have a more cohesive performance and transition between songs. This is no 3 song set, this is the real deal! Everything has to be scripted, intros set and fade ins polished. I wonder if there would be pop artists watching? Record deal??? But first things first, we have to finalize the playlist and come up with some originals.

The gig reminds me of the movie "That Thing You Do", as well as the early days of the Beatles, or the Eraserheads. But along with opportunities comes sacrifices. I wonder what I would be sacrificing if ever we gain something in the end of this gig. What I'm hoping for now is a regular slot at the bar we would be playing in.

So, after 2 drummers, 4 guitarists and two vocalists, and 8 years of experience, we have come of age, and are now ready to hit the big time!

27

Here is my tribute to myself on being 27 in a few days time.
1. I have a simple lifestyle.
2. I am still single.
3. My portfolio as a practicing architect is simple and mediocre.
4. I have yet to travel.
5. But I'm happy.
6. I am not aggressive in achieving or going beyond the first 4.

Sabi nga sa Dodgeball "I don't make goals, so that I won't be frustrated by not achieving them."

INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Thank you. I would like to accept this award on behalf of all those who act as detractors, supporters, challenges, and all those who find self-actualization through me. May Maslow roll on his grave, and remember, the Bell curve is just a curve, you can go beyond it.

Ukelele

The band is now contemplating on learning how to play ukeleles instead of guitars. Would that turn out to be a revolutionary idea in the field of pop music? Imagine the local bands turning in their guitars for ukeleles.

We got the idea while listening to Jack Johnson, a surfer dude turned music artist. The album has smooth relaxing contemporary sounds which makes the listener imagine lounging around in Hawaii. Now put that sound in our local music scene and we might have a new genre waiting to happen. And we wouldn't want to be left behind.
A ukelele is fairly cheaper as compared to a guitar, due in fact to the sheer difference in size, so cost is not a problem, as compared to a violin or mandolin. The only challenge left is learning to play the instrument.

We got a major gig coming up this may, in one of the acoustic bar - poetry reading area within Quezon City. The place is run by prominent musical artists and poets in the industry. So we have a few weeks to get our ukeleles and strut our stuff. I'm excited to get my ukelele!!!

I'm Baaaaack!!!!

Ola chico! Que tal?
(Hello friend! How are you?)

That is as far as I can recall for now from my recently concluded Spanish class. I'm still zoned out after our class presentation in Land Use Planning. So what happened during the long hiatus of this blog? Let's see...

1. I have recently concluded 6 more units of graduate studies (that is, if I pass this sem), which means I have already finished a third of the program. Yeheeey...;
2. I have missed the latter part of my Spanish class due to the major land use presentation, hence the lack of anything better to say in Spanish;
3. I have missed the last day of my tennis class, so I missed playing with the coach for the last time;
4. I have again enrolled in dance class, in the hope of bagging more contacts and friends in the process. It's time to again dance the el bimbo.
5. We have a big gig coming up! This one is a big break for the band. Hopefully...
6. We have consumed large sums of alcohol and met up with a lot of people along the way;
7. We have relived the thesis experience again. Masteral presentations are larger now, as compared to undergraduate reports.

Details to follow...
